Central Monitoring Station

BCS Consists of the following equipment

Communications Server

  • Runs the real time communication program that receives download data from the remote sites via modems
  • Each communication server can support up to two telephone lines
  • Simultaneous processing of both lines
  • Communication server will continue to receive download data even when the file server is unavailable (such as server maintenance or unexpected down time). As soon as file server is available again, download data will be transferred immediately from the communication server.

Activity Handler

  • This machine runs the real time activity handler program which checks the activity log (generated by the current schedule) against the in-coming download data
  • Any exceptions to the scheduled activities will be flagged and displayed on the Dispatch workstation for processing

Dispatch Workstation(s)

  • This machine displays all exceptions to the scheduled activities, i.e.. misses, unscheduled, incidents etc.
  • Exceptions remain on the screen until processed by dispatcher (or operator)
  • Processing function includes acknowledgement of exception and processing of any responses as pre-programmed in the system

Supervisor Workstation(s)

  • Maintain master schedule
  • Generate periodic current schedule (weekly, monthly etc.) by copying from master schedule and make any necessary modification for that period
  • Generate current log file with expected activities which will be used by the Activity Handler to check against in-coming download data
  • Generate reports
  • General house keeping, i.e. maintain client file, employee file etc.

Remote Modem Transfer Station

  • This is installed in each remote site at which the security guard or maintenance staff is on duty. It consists of a Modem Transfer Station (MTS) connected to an external high-speed modem. The Modem Transfer Station extracts the tour information from the SilverGuard wand. It then dials the pre-programmed Central Station phone number in the wand and wait for the Communication Server to download the data.
